Flake Epoxy vs Metallic Epoxy: Which Is Right for Your Garage?

Flake and metallic are two very different systems that happen to share a resin family. Choosing between them is mostly a question of how the space gets used.

Flake is a broadcast system: vinyl chips are thrown into a wet base coat until the floor refuses more, then the surface is scraped and topcoated. The result has subtle texture, real slip resistance, and a pattern that camouflages dust, sand, and small imperfections. It is the right answer for garages, pool decks, and workshops.

Metallic is a decorative pour. Pigments are worked by hand to create depth and movement, then sealed with a clear topcoat. It is beautiful in a showroom, a lobby, or a feature room. It also shows every scuff, and its smooth surface is less forgiving when wet.

If a vehicle parks on it, choose flake. If the floor is part of the presentation and traffic is controlled, metallic earns its place. Our showroom has both, side by side, which is the fastest way to decide.
